Sending data

Use the included SDK examples to send an error, a structured log and a trace.

Choose your language

These pages reproduce the code in the template's examples/ directory. Each application emits a synthetic error, a structured log and a trace with a child span. Dependencies are pinned in the example manifests.

Set your DSN

Use the Quickstart private DSN. Configure SENTRY_DSN in the application's environment. Run in the same Railway environment as the template, or against a locally reachable Sentry instance. Do not commit your actual DSN.

Check all telemetry types

Select your application's project and environment. Search Issues for Railway error example, Logs for Railway structured log and Traces for railway-example. Open the trace and confirm the child belongs to its parent.

The examples use full trace sampling to make verification easier and disable default PII collection. Full sampling is a demonstration setting. Choose sampling and privacy settings for your own workload.

What the local example test proves

From the template repository root:

python scripts/test_examples.py

This uses the real SDKs with an HTTP envelope receiver. It checks error text, log text and the parent/child span relationship. It proves SDK output, not indexing in a running deployment.
